Chapter 14 of John’s gospel.

Immediately after Jesus tells Peter he will deny Him, He (Jesus), gives Peter an uplift.

He tells him one of the most loving things of all time.

John 13:38, John 14:1

Jesus to Peter: Will you lay down your life for my sake?

Truly, Truly, I say unto you, the Rooster shall not crow until you deny me three times.

Do not let your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me.

.

Jesus goes on to tell Peter and the others that his Father’s house has many dwelling places.

He was going to get a place ready and would come back and gather them to bring them there.

Great information often Is given after or during a failure on our parts by God who never condemns us.

Jesus says they know the way and where he is going.

Then, Thomas says they do not know where Jesus is going and asks how can they know the way?

Jesus begins one of his most incredible bits of revelation.

John 14:6-7

Jesus says “I AM the way and the truth and the life.

No man comes to the Father but by me.

If you had known me, you should have known my Father also, and from this moment on you know Him and have seen Him.

.

Phillip questions this as all of us do.

He asks for the Father to be shown to them. They will be satisfied then.

.

I will just write the conversations next.

Through Jesus, Phillip is talked to by his name, and he is told by Jesus The Lord in what seems strange to our ears.

“Have I been so long with you and yet you have not known Me, Phillip?”

.

Jesus says anyone who has seen him has seen the Father.

He asks how anyone can say for Him to show the Father when they have seen Him because they have seen Jesus.

It is plain.

Yet complex!

Jesus goes on to say the Father lives and dwells in Him, doing the works.

Jesus only speaks of Him, not himself.

.

Jesus once again gives the I AM, in the Father, the Father in Me.

.

Then, The Lord says they who believe on Him will do greater things and whatever they ask, He will do to give glory to Father.

Because Jesus goes to the Father.

Ask in the Name of Jesus, and it will be done. He will do it!

Remember the Lord’s prayer?

We are told if we love Him, we will do what He commands.

I think that is clear in 1 John when the Holy Spirit commands us to love each other and our brethren. And our neighbors.

The Comforter is promised who will live in us, and Jesus says in John 14:18-“I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you”.

.

Finishing this, our Lord says the world will not see him but they would see him.

That because He lives, we should too!

He says He will live in us as well as the Father will live in us.
