Luke

LUKE

And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit returned from Jordan, and was led by the spirit into the wilderness.

.

The captain of our Faith follows the leading of the spirit into the wilderness. Prosperity is not our material possessions though we may be blessed with some. True Prosperity is the Will of HASHEM and holding fast to it.

Being forty days tempted of the devil. And in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he afterward hungered.

We are not told the manner of temptations. Just that for forty days he was tempted.

[ For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.]

And the devil said unto him, if thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

Here, Satan, seeks to Tell Yeshua what to do. We should not be surprised that Satan tells people what to do

***

And Jesus answered him, saying, IT IS WRITTEN, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

Please note: JESUS refers to a Written Word, and then Speaks that same Written Word.

.

At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood. And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

.

Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. [ Scripture – is written ]

For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy SPIRIT.  They spoke, then it was written. Then Jesus referred to what was written, and the WORD SPOKE in agreement with that which had already been both spoken and written.

And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:

For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

Do you and I speak that which is written. Do we speak with TRUE AUTHORITY?

Skipping to verse 7 from Luke 4

Satan, speaking to Jesus:

If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Again, Satan attempts to tell Jesus    what to do.

Again, Jesus refers to it is writtenand speaks from the authority of it is written.

There is much more to be gleaned. You might sit down with your pastor and discuss Luke 4. A True Pastor will be known by love held for all the flock. Not a clique, rather All. And will also have respect for those called to Salvation.

One basic point being made, is that since JESUS referred to It Is Written, and then spoke in agreement with that Word. So should we. We may not yet be walking all the way yet as one having authority — but our Captain HAS SET THIS EXAMPLE FOR US.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

It was shared with me that the loss of blood at Calvary would have resulted in the hands of the Saviour pulling together the fingers towards the palms symbolic of His Holding YOU in his hand. From the Cross declaring that no man would pluck you out of His Hand. That “death-grip” as life seeped out of his body holds YOU for all eternity.

.

neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand

Note

Satan speaks to Jesus quoting it is written. Jesus answers him.

And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:

For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:

And in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Satan can refer to It is written and speak it is written. He did so to Yeshua [the Lord Jesus] – he will do so to you and me.

We need to remember the admonition of the prophet:

Isaiah 26:13

O Lord our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only  will we make mention of thy name.
