Prosperity Gospel – Java
Writing as a journalist.
Direct me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in them. Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain. As Yeshua said, you cannot worship God and mammon.
There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day: And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.
Note: text refers to a certain rich man, not all rich men. Remember the rich man who prepared a burial plot for Jesus.
but now he is comforted
As we are reminded in Job, naked came I into this earth, naked shall I leave this earth. There is nothing in the earthly bank account that comes with you. As a friend shared recently after a portion of his foot was cut off to save his life – when you face death you realize it is not your bank account, it is do you know the Lord.
As we find in the Psalms:
Turn my heart toward your statutes, not toward selfish gain.
Point Two
NUMEROUS times we read about the GOD of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
Pertaining to the subject at hand: “prosperity gospel”
Note: The LORD is the GOD of wealthy business owners. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob were not paupers. They all had a measure of wealth. They ALSO had relationship with Abba Father.
Business leaders would do well to study the lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Rich men are called to relationship with our Creator, lest they not be comforted with Lazarus in a wealthy wealthy place. Government is also a business!
Apart from the Blood of Jesus shed for us, there is no true wealth.
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God
