Before commenting from scripture on What Abortion IS – let us step back and look at forgiveness, Grace, Mercy. Perhaps 25 – 30 years ago Richard Wurmbrand was preaching in Israel. It was National Right to Life day, or some such focus. The people there said, now he will rip into those who have had abortions.
But Richard, who had spent years in communist prisons, tortured – who suffered jailers beating the bottoms of his feet – the marks did not show — he had a greater sense of Mercy in his heart than some around him.
He got up or sat on the stage to preach due to the soreness of his feet which followed him all his life — and he preached to those ladies who had had abortions that they would be reunited with their children at the resurrection of the dead. They came weeping.
So, What is Abortion
Psalm 139 – the soul of creation perhaps
For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
In some mysterious way, Abba is there in the womb with your child. An abortion then is a Rejection, a literal rejection in some way, of the One who has covered a child in their mother’s womb. Anti Messiah. Anti God. Anti Book. Depending on WHO does the counting — somewhere between 1 and 2 Billion abortions over the last 50 years. 50 years of sacrificing young children on the altar of convenience, monetary consideration, or plain, just not wanting the young child. Even though in some countries, there are many willing to adopt. Does this rejection rip at the heart of GOD? The one who said, Let the Children come unto me. Why would our generation expect to get a pass on judgment?
