Only what’s done for Christ will last
Seen on an embroidery on a wall in front of a piano where a piano teacher was teaching a teen-age child.
This was years ago, really, really years n years ago. She was a chain smoker, back in the days when MD’s prescribed cigarettes to women to calm their nerves. Back in the day when the national organization for women had a cigarette named after them, Virginia Slims, you’ve come a long way baby 😊! You too can get cancer!
Now those same MD’s are back at it again, encouraging the mutilation of young men and women. Nothing new under the sun.
A bible teacher might tell you, not just what is done for Christ, but it must be of Christ and by Christ and For Christ et. Al.
Still the meditation as I approach the limits of my own mortality, a doctor’s report saying part of my body is equivalent to a body 15 years older than my own 😊. ONLY what is done for Christ will last. We ARE admonished to Lay Up for ourselves Treasures in heaven. As you go about your day, if the thought comes to you, Only what is done for Christ will last, consider what you are doing, as the hour glass of the sand of your life continues to ebb out to the Done side of things.
Back in the day when doctors actually made house calls in the US. Years ago. And they might be smoking when they entered your house.
Not any more.
ONLY what is done for Christ will Last.
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
My work, your work — Shall be made manifest
ONLY what is done for Christ will last.
